No experience with Borzois and yorkies, but Borzois are beautiful dogs!
I don't think that there would be a problem with hunting instincts if he was a puppy when you adopted him, but with an adult, he might already have those instincts engrained in his behavior. Are you adopting him from a rescue? I'm sure you could just let the rescue organization know that the dog needs to get along well with small dogs, and there would be one for you.
