Sorry to hear about your surgery. Sounds like your pup is worried about the change in circumstances.

If he can't go out regularly, he doesn't have much choice but to go in the house. Maybe you could set an alarm clock so that you can remind DD to take him out every hour or two. I would have her give him a really yummy treat when he potties appropriately. If she'll do those 2 things - take him out regularly and reward him when appropriate - I bet he will quickly get back on track.

Is he getting any exercise? Boredom may also be a problem for him.
