My yorkie never needs her anal glands emptied, but my maltese does. When I got him 2 months ago I noticed that he would drag his butt and I noticed that he would smell, I finally figured out that it was his anal glands. I read on here about how to empty them and I did. I am not sure how big everyone elses anal glands get but his was bulging out and you could just look at his bottom and see that they were so swollen. I was afraid that they were abscessed so my daughter took him to the vet a couple days later when he went for his last set of shots at the vet he emptied them again and said that they were full again. I have had to do this a few times since then too. It looks like that he might always have this problem. I have read somewhere that some dogs have to have thiers removed. Has anyone heard of having them removed? |
