I do the same thing as Robbin. I never put their collars on if they are left at home alone. Too many horror stories. They have the rolled leather collars, and I have only a tiny St. Joseph tag (pink of course) with their name and phone number. They are microchipped also. I find the regular harnesses can matt the hair or actually rub the hair off and cause redness on their skin. The step-in harnesses are not all that safe since they can back up and out of them. I use the car harness with padded sternum area, or put little t-shirts on them and their other harnesses over that.
