Yes, good idea! And to go along with that, you can teach a "get your toy" command.
Joey has been told "get your toy" so many times when he's wound up that he will now stop himself at those times and go get a toy. It's really cool to watch when he gets excited (like when company comes over), you can see that moment in his thinking when he goes
"Oh, boy. oh, boy. How exciting. Someone new. Oh boy, oh....WAIT! Where's my toy? I need a toy so I don't get in trouble. There it is! I got it. Will you play with me. Huh? Please?". Makes me proud!
Much better to have him nudging you with a toy than to have him biting you, right?
