As you can see, this is a tough one. There are arguments both for and against keeping a collar on him.

When Joey was a puppy, I considered the risk of him getting out/lost to be greater than the risk of him choking. He is micro-chipped, but sometimes people who find dogs don't go to the trouble of having them scanned.

Now that he's older and doesn't run out of the door or fence when they are accidentally left open, I don't keep a collar on him.

You gotta weigh the risks for your puppy and your situation.
