Buying that puppy would save that one individual puppy, but you have to look at the total picture. As soon as you buy that puppy, the pet store will immediately replace it with another poor baby. Are you then going to rescue that one too? You can't rescue them all, and the petstore will just keep replacing them with another. When you buy a puppy from a petstore, you're lining the pockets of the store and thereby lining the pockets of the puppymill that supplies it. If everyone stopped buying these puppies, petstores would close, and puppy mills would be shut down. Continuing to "rescue" these puppies from petstores just keeps these mills going. Yes, it's terrible for those puppies and none of them deserve to live in a cage in a store, but buying it will only cause another puppy to be put in that cage.

Purchasing from backyard breeders, pet shops, and puppymills perpetuates the suffering of other dogs.
Educate yourself and buy from reputable breeders or rescue.
