I would not take the breeder's word that he saw a vet the day before you got him. Take him to a different vet. Gizmo also had earmites when I got him, and he was miserable until we figured it out.
Oh, did the breeder say why he saw the vet? Any breeders out there...is that usual? I would worry about more serious health issues....have YOUR vet check with the breeder's vet to confirm what you were told.
