uh-oh Sargie is almost 6 months old and I have had him for 2 months. He slept in a basket the first few days I had him but then barked to be on the bed. I made sure he was on all sorts of blankets etc. to absiorb any accident. Then I realized he was half-trained (never went on sofas, bed, me...!) and gradually the blankets disappeared. He sleeps down near the foot of the bed. He has never, ever had an accident - he gets up in the middle of the night and goes to his pad if he needs to go, then comes back.
However, if you read my posts on the Training Spray website, you'll see Sargie is not fully trained...he still leaves droppings where he wants and sometimes (rarely, but sometimes) wets in the wrong spaces. Thing is, he will get up in the night to go find the wrong spaces - but at least he gets up and leaves.
I guess my point is that it might be contradictory to crate training, but in my case even a half-trained Yorkie is smart enough not to soil your sleeping area (if it's his)! So it probably won't be long before you can have him with you. |
