I've been home cooking for over a year. There is a difference between feeding table scraps and home cooking. I wouldn't feed the Gerber Baby hot dogs for too long, either. Lots of preservatives. Most of the vet foods and other "prescription" foods contain garbage ingredients. Please read the labels carefully. Many pups are allergic to grains. The protein source should be real meat - no by-products or meal. I just switched from home-cooking to The Honest Kitchen (freeze-dried raw). I would highly recommend this as well. The Embark formula is for all life stages.
There are lots of quality foods out there. Do your research and determine which best fits your needs. Good luck and congratulations on your new baby!!!!!
