Yes, you use two spools of thread and your machine should have a place for another spindle to fit. Thread it just like you would if it was one needle. Surfi and Ticki is right that it doesn't use the zigzag stitch. At least mine doesn't and that would be interesting to see!

I should have been more clear. My machine has a designated setting for the double needle, in the zigzag widths (see picture) although it does not sew zigzag on top. It will sew two straight rows on top, but on the underside, it will be zigzagged between the two needle positions. clear as mud?

I'm assuming I set the stitch width there, and then select the straight stitch...yes?
My manual only shows where to set the stitch width (zigzag portion) for the double needle. It doesn't say that it needs the second spool of thread, though I figured it must because it didn't work with one thread! LOL.
There is a hole on top, which I suppose a spool pin can be attached on, or I could put a wound bobbin on the bobbin winder (pics).
Or...do I just attach two small spools on the same spool pin?
