hi i just had my first litter and im no expert, but i didnt cut the cords BUT i did open the sacs and made sure they were breathing and their air ways were open, i suctioned the mouths and noses, and they handed right back to mom who i watch carefully as she chewed everything so that she didnt go to far, she did eat all 3 placentas with no problems.

oh and a trick someone taught me if you are having a puppy who is moving around or making puppy sounds the air way might still be clogged, place the puppy in you hands and toss it lightly in the air back down to you hands, this helps clear the air way, we had to do that for one little girl and we administered CPR later that evening, but after that she was completely healthy no problems |
