Don't worry I'm sure they all do at some point. I will hold the hair on Reagan's head and then pull up on the band just a bit to loosen it. I try and hold the hair so that it doesn't pull on her head.

I like to use barrettes too. I put in a band to get her hair up the put the barrette over the top. I've found that I like the alligator barrettes the best. I won't put it around the entire top know I'll stick it through the middle and she seems to not be able ot get it out as easy, plus I think they are easier to put in than the french barrettes. I don't have many bows with the alligator clips though.
