I think she is going to be ok - my demi fell out of the back seat of the suv as when we opened the door she just jumped from her car seat as she was so excited and she is fine.
Now for the liver testing I would do the full bile acid test on all yorkies and that is fasting for 12 hours having them pull blood and then feed her then wait 2 hours and pull blood it is a pre and a post bile acid test and it tests while no food and then with food how the liver reacts. My new vet did it immediately since she is a yorkie - normal is below 7 pre and below 15 post. My girl was a 3 pre and 74 first time and 54 second time post. She most likely has mvd and has to be on a low protein diet now as liver shunt is usually over 100 post. It is good to have done and if her liver items are high then it is good to have this tested. Common signs of liver shunt is spaced out after eating, seizures, head pressing on the wall, and vomitting. I believe it usually occurs within the first year. If it is over 100 post then the best test is a liver scan which is a radio active dye that is put through the rectum and followed to see if the dye bypasses the liver- very few people do the test and it costs appx $350. Ultra sound can be done but not as accurate a test. We opted against it due to less than 100 and no other signs and dee dee will be 3 July 3rd. |
