Not that I agree with his actions AT ALL, but what part of what he did was illegal? It couldn't be the fact he fed his pet. And I don't think it was that he did this in front of minors. It had to be the fact that he coated it in cooking oil.
Honestly, I've seen a lot of animal cruelty cases worse than that, and I wish that all of them would be taken that seriously...
