i met a breeder at a show who does her own yorkies teeth as well. I'm not so sure its a good idea. I wouldn't let another person who's not a vet or a vet tech do this to my dog without anesthesia.
KellyV is right, the teeth need to be polished afterwards. the best way to do it properly is to put them under. To get all sides of each tooth i think its impossible to have an awake dog let you put them into position to do this. Do you really think a dog will sit still for an hour while you have their mouth wide open? Also when its done under anesthesia it takes like 20 minutes
