My two are 7 mos. and 6 1/2 mos. and I keep them in an x-pen in the kitchen when I'm gone. I give them run of the living room and kitchen when I'm home but notice that if I take too long taking a shower or going downstairs to the laundry room that they get into mischief - they've gnawed on the window blinds and gotten to the stereo wires - so I know they aren't ready for that much freedom yet
