My first yorkie, Molly Muffins, gave us a lesson when she was about 4 months old.
We used to only put her collar on when we went out, and take it off when we were home.
Well, my husband let her outside, fell asleep on the sofa for a little snooze, and our doorbell rang and woke him up.
In that ten minute catnap,
Molly had wiggled under the wooden privacy fence and into the neighbors backyard.
Our neighbor asked him if he was missing anything when he answered the door-and then they gave hime Molly!
Thanks God Molly went into this neighbors yard, because the neighbors on our other side and directly behind us do not have fenced in yards.
This was 11 years ago. From that day on Molly wore her collar 24/7 for her entire life. We never had a problem with it.
Now our new girl, Nina, who is but 12 weeks old is wearing a collar and name tag. We plan to get her micro chipped too. |
