I waited until Gracie was 6 months. That was too long. I was just lucky that Gracie did not freak out when she finally did go. You are probably safe to go now as long as you have the necessary vaccines. A good groomer will use the first few visits to get the dog used to the grooming process. He/she will start with just a bath and nail trim, maybe a trim around the eyes and butt. No major clipping for several visits!
