I use a doggie litter box with the pads. I put one pad in the box, then I take another and cut it into 4ths. I put one of the cut pieces and put it in the center. When Wally uses it, he pees on the small peice in the middle a couple of times and I can just throw that away and put in another. It makes them last alot longer. I doubt that will help with your little shredder problem
just thought I'd give that idea for the saving of the pads.
