Question Mild Trachea collapse?

This morning at 5am Spryo jumped out of his sleep doing the reverse sneezing or at least thats what i thought it was. but it started sounding a lot worse and he looked very uncomfortable. it also lasted a total of 25 minutes. We were able to get an appointment for early this morning to see the vet and she said he has a mild case of tracheal collapse. She said he would be fine and that as long as he doesnt have a collar on( which i dont use anyway), he should be ok, but to monitor him and let her know if this happens again. this weekend he stayed with my mom and both my parents smoke( i did ask they take it outside), but im wondering if they smoked inside, could that have irriated him so bad that it caused this mornings episode?. he is fine now. he does the honking, raspiness when he gets excited and plays. I dont smoke in my house and we have an ac that filters the air as well. what are some other things i can do to help his lil throat out. thanks for reading
