Absolutely! Do you wash towels in the same washer that you've washed the family's underwear in? It's not any different.
I use bleach and hot water, with a double rinse with vinegar, then I run another rinse with vinegar. They are always the last load I ever do on any particular day. Then my washer is left open (it's a front loader, with the sanitizing capabilities) to air dry.
People washed diapers for years without any adverse effects
