The cordless ones seem to be quieter than the ones that plug in. I just bought a set at Sally's for about $45, but it is the corded kind and it is NOT quiet. Loki is used to being clipped every 4-6 weeks since he was a baby so he is OK with them. Sammy hates them, so I know how that goes.

When I went to Sally's I asked for the mid-range ones. Cheap ones won't do Yorkie hair. I wanted to buy real "grooming" clippers from Pet Edge but most of them were like $120 and that was way out of my budget since I only clip Loki in the summer when he gets practically shaved every 2 weeks. I clip him in between trips to the groomer so he stays cool. In the winter I just let him grow out between grooming appts.
