Hi don't ever use people toothpaste, it can cause damage as they will swallow some.
I use the mint flavoured from Petsmart, their brand. It is made in US and works very well and a fraction of the costs of the stuff from the Vets. I use a small toothbrush I get from my Vets, made by CET.
I put a small dab of toothpaste on the back of my left hand, work the brush into the toothpaste, insert my thumb behind the canine on the right side of the dogs mouth (dog facing me) and brush gently.
Each time you do it, he will get more used to it. Mine beg to be next to get their teeth brushed.
You should do it pretty much daily to get him used to it and only a very quick short time. |
