Basically they are the same dog. Both were started from traditional colored yorkies carrying the piebald gene. When the piebald gene is in both parents it can result in a tricolored offspring.

the Biewer line comes from Germany. they have their own breed club separate from the Yorkshire Terrier and standards have been set for their colors and color patterns. they also do not dock their tails.

The parti line is an Aerican version of the Biewer. So far no club has been established and theycannot be shown, but they are AKC registered.
