How big are there parents , grand parents ..etc.

If there is a bigger dog in the dam or sire's lines she could have a throw back of a larger pup that could cause a problem.

Any size dog may run in to a problem and need to have a C-section for many different reasons.

Alot will also depend on the size of pelvis area.
The only way to know if she could/might have a problem is with
an X-Ray closer to her due date.
They can see the size of the pups in relation to the size of the pelvis area.
You will also know how many puppies to expect.

He may think she will need a C-section if her hips/pelvis area is really small.

If you are not comfortable with him, I think I'd be looking for a different Vet that deals more with breeders of small dogs.

this was my thoughts exactly.

also i want to add, not only are yorkies prone to c-sections, other dogs as well. it is not the size of the mommy but the size of the puppies and her pelvis. if he ck'd her pelvis, he may have found out she is not a free whelper. just b/c the mother did not have a c-section doesn't mean she won't.
take what he said very seriously, and if you don't feel comfortable with what he said go and find another.
if you don't like what he said b/c you didn't want to hear this, you really need to sit back and think this thru b/c you do not want to put your mommy at risk.
