I don't know if it's necessarily a yorkie personality. My little Coco adores me, but loves everyone around her. She plays with whomever wants to give her attention, even just for a petting of the belly. Maybe you should let your husband and kids feed her a few days a week, so she sees them as her family too. Just a suggestion, I may not know what I am talking about but it sounds like it would work.
