I treat my yard every other month for ants & bugs and also have spot treatments... I hate them that bad ....I'd DEF Treat your yard - you can get just about anything for ants ...I use the Bayer Products for bugs and ants & Spray it on my yard with a hose......but don't let them out for at least 12 hours or at least until the yard is completely dry.
I've been doing this for over 10 years and it works great - no ant mounds exxcept once in a while after it rains but I walk my yard EVERY SINGLE day checking - I know some don't like chemicals - but I'd way rather be ant free and I haven't ever had any problems with the girls. Oh - the sprays help with mosquitos too which can cause heartworms - here in texas we need all the protection we can get.
