 Help: Nursing Puppies!
My Yorkie had 3 beautiful puppies 5 weeks ago. She was an excellent mom, but i have noticed that for the last week she has not been nursing her puppies very much. I was very concerned, so I would force her and she would nurse them but not for long. I had begun trying to wean them by giving them a mixture of goats milk, baby rice cereal and a/d puppy food, but they don't eat much. Is it normal after 5 weeks for the mother to stop nursing all together???? I have started supplementing with 2 feedings a day of goat's milk. Can anybody help shed some light on this situation??????? I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing for these puppies????????? Thanks! |
