I went to Walmart afterwork today. When I got out of my car I heard a small "bark bark". I turned to see a small apricot poodle looking out of a closed window in a small truck that was parked in the parking lot. It had the back slider window opened but it was in the upper 80's here.

The little dog was panting so I got my bottle of water from the car and tried to give it a drink thru the slider window. The dog wouldn't drink......
Then it jumped down on the floor of the truck and just sat there. I went into Walmart and told them, about the dog in the hot car, at the Service desk and they said that they were not allowed to call the police and I could do so if I wanted to.

Sooooooooo.... I called the police.
the cop showed up and I explained to him that the little dog was roasting in the car. His reply was .... Well the back window is open and the dog can get air if needed (now remember it was in the upper 80's.... and definitely not a "breezie"day).
I said that it was unacceptable and if there was an Animal welfare # that I could call so the person who left this dog would be prosecuted..... or at least given a good talking to!...
His reply was "Mam, unless the dog is violent or causing harm, we don't issue anything like that here". then he left.......
GRRRR.... I waited outside by the truck until some guy got in it... Just as he got ready to pull out, I stopped him and gave him a good "reaming" about leaving pets in hot cars.
Well, now I am on a mission. I want there to be an ordinance in this PO-DUNK town that protects animals from being left in cars........
So Where Do I Start????
