Nodak, you sound very bitter about this whole situation...
Personally, I don't think you have given the dog enough time to bond with you at all. It sounds like you're jealous of him, and that's just silly!! It's a puppy They're cute and cuddly...If you just open your heart, you will fall in love with your new puppy. It should be both of you that love the dog, not just your fiance. For your fiance's sake, you should give him a REAL chance, and I guarantee you and the dog will bond.
As far as scolding him for going #2 on the carpet...Look up positive reinforcement training. It is soooo much more effective than negativity...
When my husband and I wanted to get a yorkie we researched positive reinforcement training. Our yorkie was about 97-99% potty trained within one month...Within one week, he already knew where to go. Maybe you should try that Look it up, and see what you think.
Don't get discouraged that the dog doesn't seem to like you. You need to just make him feel comfortable as far as all yorkies picking only one person, that's not always true. Our male yorkie loves BOTH my husband and I equally.
My maltese has a problem with barking at other people and not feeling comfortable around them. She'll take a treat from them, but run away. The way we have started fixing this is not by scolding her or anything like that....It's by having the guests ignore her, and then have treats in their hands, and she comes to them, and then they pet her and she has improved drastically.
If you don't want to give this puppy a chance, and give it a go, then you should really rehome him. It's not fair to the dog to not be loved by all members of the household. I think that you feel like you have to act a certain way and act uncaring about the dog, but seriously, open up your heart, and if you decide that you really just don't like him, then rehome him.
