Yep Buddy does that exact thing. Picture a 15lbs Yorkie taking off like

This is Ozzie -- and he'll be 10 this month! We call it "wildman mode."

With your puppy, I think maybe she was just finally "coming into her own." I don't think puppies always are comfy in their new surroundings, so they are cautious and quiet initially.
