There are two books that I would recommend, The Joy of Breeding Your Own Show Dog by Ann Seranne and The Complete Book of Dog Breeding by Dan Rice. Your boy will never be quite the same but he will calm down once she is no longer in heat. The norm is one week coming, one week in standing, and one week going. You don't need to keep them apart for her pregnancy just until she will no longer accept his advances. Most likely their relationship will change after this as well, seems to just be the way it is.
