I'm in the same position. I just had a conversation with my sister tonight. She is somewhat offended that I "don't trust" her to let my dogs out. It's her kids. I tried to explain to her that just a small hesitation with closing the door, or getting distracted and not shutting the gate, and my boy is GONE. It's not HER children, it's children in general. They don't realize or pay enough attention. I don't blame them, they're kids, they're supposed to have short attention spans, but I'm not taking that chance. They think I'm way overprotective but have agreed in the future to come and let them out without the kids if I ever need them. I tend to not go places because I don't trust anyone. Not the best way to live, I know. So I understand. Try to find someone to come stay at your house.
