If your dog has an allergy, then treating the skin itself won't help in the long term - you need to find out what he's allergic to! Did you change his food or give him a new treat? Start by removing everything he eats, and then re-introducing things one day at a time. Watch him clsely for a reaction. The only downside to this is that you have to be very diligent about watching them to make sure they don't steal something they shouldn't have - that would negate the whole process, and you'd have to start again! If you re-introduce the food and nothing changes, then you might want to look at his toys and bedding. Did you recently change laundry soap or cleaning products? Has he been outside in a new place, like a new park? If so, it might be poison ivy or a insect bite? Your prime suspects are anything new that he encountered shortly before the rash developed. Good luck!
