 Blood in the stool
Generally when they get blood in the stool and it is bright red, and not black, or like coffee grounds, it is o.k. probably ate something that stressed his tummy, however, when any blood is in the stool he should be on antibiotics, so he does not get a worse infection.
Please let us know asap, he probably broke a little blood vessel from pooping so hard and often. Does the diarrhea really stink? If it does he could have coccidia, if flat and round, it is probably Giardia, my Vet told me that the dogs are getting immune to the Flagel and methondizole, so Giardia could be back. As those drugs have been used for sooooooooo long that sometimes they do not work. A little Pepto-Bismol will help his tummy feel better till you can get him to the Vet with a stool sample. If you have a syringe, I would give him 2cc's. It can't harm him. Sure hope he gets back on his feet soon, it no fun to have a sick baby, and especially the diarrhea and worrying part. |
