The fiancee and I got a Yorkie a week or so ago, and it's apparently obvious that the dog only likes Heidi and not me. Now, Heidi spends more time in general with the dog...this is definitely true. I am the one, however, who comes home first and lets him out in the afternoon...and he generally sits on my lap (at least somewhat) when we take drives....so I'm not totally MIA or anything. But I'd say Heidi gets at least twice as much time around the dog than I do.

Anyhow...it hasn't always been SO bad...the dog has always favored her...but it hasn't been as bad as lately...here's some examples....I just want to know how right you think I am:

- The dog, when we're both around, basically refuses to go near me at all. Even if we put him on me and I start petting it, it just goes to her immediately.
- When I go outside with it, it doesn't jump up at me anymore...and it doesn't really follow me when I run anymore.
- Lastly, and perhaps most telling, is that if it's around me and I am petting or scratching it, it basically shows no joy...it lays there...ears flat and straight back...and doesn't look happy. Actually, last time, it jumped away from me and tried to hide from me.

So I'm guessing it either hates me, or is scared of me...OR perhaps Yorkies only cling to one master??

I'm guessing the stimuli could be that last night I was too rough grabbing him when we were scolding it...it was running away and I nabbed him really fast, and he let out a high-pitched whimper when I did...leading me to believe I was too rough.

Heidi does more discipline than I do, because she's around him more, but I think I may be more severe in general. I could be wrong.

Anyhow....is this just going to be a permenant problem?? DO you think he sounds scared or just hates me?? If this can't be rectified....well...it's going to suck having one of these dogs.
