I love some of the darker colored yorkies, although I've seen lighter ones that are beautiful too--to me, they're all beautiful though. I just wondered, as I am considering getting a female since I already have a male, and I do love the darker coloring. Thanks in advance, I love learning all this stuff!
Dark coloring is not considered a fault. The standard calls for dark steel blue and clear golden tan. These are open to interpretation. I consider Connor's blue the perfect dark steel blue where I've had others say that it should be closer to what I consider a charcoal grey. The dark dogs did quite well at the specialty in NY this year. All of my girls are darker because Connor has alot of silvery blue in his line. It's harder to find a black and gold that isn't a cotton coat. It just depends on what you like. I say for a pet, go with what you want.
