Sadly, there are many people out there for whom dogs are disposable, and they expect everyone else to be the same. These people are the same people who drop their dog off at the pound because they are no longer convenient.
I grew up with dogs, but yet, am the only one in the family who treats mine like family and doesnt' dispose of them easily
Hang in there, and forgive them. They don't know better.
