My mom is like that. She just doesn't get that of course I love my children, and they take priority, but my dogs come right after that. . . then my husband. . . and on down the line, lol. I was like that also, I wasn't into kids, but would gravitate towards their pets. Now that has changed a bit -- I understand the baby thing and know how to deal with children now (this came only after I had my oldest child). But I'm still very into animals; dogs in particular, and that's just who I am. My mom is always acting as though I have a problem. . . and when I told her I was getting a third dog she freaked (even though I'm a grown adult, and take care of my family). . .
Lol, to bring it this to the conclusion, lol -- I understand where you are, and don't let anyone make you feel bad or guilty because you love your dogs. There's nothing wrong with you, lol, everyone has their passions, and you are lucky that you found yours and now you'll have a child to share the things you love with.
