You actually answered your own question. Your baby has already marked his bathroom spots outside of his playpen. Until you get the "Territory Scent" removed by a professional, he will continue to PP in those areas. The reason he didn't soil your friends house, is because there was not a scent to cause him to over-ride another dog's scent.
