The problem I have with blocking off an area or room is that the main living area is very open, so I can't use a gate. Also having another dog creates a problem in that they want to be together when we are home. As I indicated, Chester stays in his playpen when we are not at home.
I will probably get the carpet cleaned, and hopefully that will help some. He tells us after the fact that he has to pee. It is especially bad when they are playing. I think he doesn't want to stop to go outside. The other thing we have noticed is that he doesn't seem to finish. I will even stay outside with him until he goes 2-3 times, but he comes back in and has to pee in sometimes less than an hour. If they go on a walk, of course they pee on everything in sight, and he comes back in the house and pees in an hour. He just doesn't seem to understand that he doesn't have to pee every second he feels the urge. Like I said, he can hold it, because depending on how much he drinks, he can hold it

all night (7 hours) or during the day when we aren't home (when he is in his playpen). He doesn't poop in the house, so I guess that is good. I sure has been a struggle, and I'm getting tired.
