I am not an expert, but my Sophie is nearly 6, and her hair is the same way. She has never had the straight, silky hair. She is cottony. She is still very beautiful, and her color is very good. However, she does have a problem with matting because of the coat. Pantene has been a miracle for the matting problem. Maybe someone else has a better answer, but if your pup is like mine, it may always be like that.
