Our home phone has the voice announcement of who's calling so you don't have to look at the caller id, I just mute what I'm doing & if it's not my kids it usually doesn't get answered....if a call comes up private we never answer it, our thinking is if you wont tell us who you are, you don't get answered
Sometimes when someone is here & the phone rings I don't pay any attention to the phone & the person looks a little disturbed that I'm ignoring a ringing phone, they usually say, "Aren't you going to answer that!" I always say , " Just because it rings doesn't mean I HAVE to answer it, that's what the machine is for." some people seem really perplexed that you can actually chose not to answer...I find it a bit amusing at times watching them squirm ...
