Obviously those employees are morons. I'd take my business elsewhere, AND let them know that you are. You don't have to take that. The very least they could have done was to send you a giftcard in a nice amount (maybe like $20). That would have given them a chance to earn your business back.
I find that at my Petco, the people are rude and unknowledgeable too. Must be because they don't pay that well, so all they can get are losers.
