You can get HPV from sexual contact or even from a toilet seat. It's pretty scary. Especially that you can end up with cervical cancer.
I'll step up and say I have HPV. No idea when, where or how I got it. I wasn't a promiscuous teenager. In fact I've been married for 4 years now. And I went through the scare of cervical cancer. Everything turned out fine but I was lucky.
I think the benefits may out rank the risks. With any vaccine or medication, there are side effects and risks. I also think more research needs to be done before the media keeps hyping it up either way. Saying every young woman should get it or scaring people away from it without having all the facts. |
