I had a similar problem with a pomeranian but not with my yorkie. I got an AKC registered pom, as a puppy she was fluffy and gorgeous but as she got older her coat got really thin. I took her to the vet thinking she might have a skin problem but the vet said she was healthy. Then I found out the lady also bred long hair chihuahuas. I then realized that I got a pom/chihuahua mix. It all explained so much the thin coat and long snout!!
