They gave her a hot pink cast, but it is much longer than her leg so it is hard for her to walk. She is crying but I figure it is because of the cast. She shouldn't be in pain cause the sedated her earlier. They did give me some pain meds to give her at bedtime every day. I also asked about something to calm her if she needs it in case she starts wanting to jump around. She told me to try Benedryl first and then if that doesn't work to let her know. Of course this is only on a NEED TO BASIS. |
Oh my poor little one she seems so sad. I know that look. When Bella had surgery on her back legs for luxating patella I took her wire kennel (had a plastic bottom) and flipped it over. I put pillows at the bottom of it and laid her in it. I would moe it from room to room so she was never alone. Also they gave me a thin lenght of material (looked like a belt) to use when she had to go potty. You place it around their abdomen and help her to balance that way. It worked really well for Bella.
V is right she will probably get stopped up from the medication. Bella did not poop for a day and a half and just when I was getting really concerned she pooped and peed. That was what I worried about the most. I did feed her chicken, she never cared for rice but she does like baby food. She did not really try hard to chew on her casts so I did not put a collar on her for very long, just long enough for her to realize that the casts were off limits. Thankfully my sister was staying with me at the time and was home all day with her otherwise I don't know what I would have done. Thankfully you are a stay at home mom. Good luck with your little one. She is too beautiful.
