Hey there - I happen to own this very carrier (except in black) and I LOVE it! It is definitely well made and I have used it for the past 4 months and the bag still looks brand new. I think you would be very happy if you decided to purchase this carrier. Also, I see that it is almost 4 inches higher than what is allowed, but I seriously doubt anyone has a ruler the gate. Besides, you can always squish it down as you mentioned. Best of luck!!
