Worries me The biggest problem with "fad" pups or pups that are bought as a fashion statement is so many of them end up neglected or sent to shelters as they "outgrow" the tiny cute pocket stage or become discarded as yesterdays news. Then they are turned into rescue groups or shelters and have some problems due to the neglect and sometimes abuse of the fashion conscious but not dog conscious owners. Remember when the taco bell dog got popular, everyone had to have a chihuahua, then they ended up in shelters. I volunteered in the past at rescues and the SPCA and I used to get so upset at the tiny dogs who were thrown away like old pairs of shoes. A dog is a commitment, for its entire lifetime, not something to get to accessorize your fashions or to be "in". Ticks me off and someone that would expose a tiny pup that size and young to an environment filled with people and their assorted germs and bacteria is not a responsible person and should not have a dog. |
